Why this age matters

Discovering how practice creates progress

Four- and five-year-olds can hold a plan in mind for longer and combine more steps. Repeating a skill with a new cue or direction helps them become more controlled, adaptable and willing to keep trying.

Body + brain together

The developmental focus for this age

The original program framework connects sensory processing, reflexes, language and motor development. The emphasis changes as children grow.

Four connected outcomes

Gymnastics is only the beginning

Every activity has a physical purpose and a wider developmental purpose. The goal is confident progress that children can carry into everyday life.

01

Stronger gymnastics basics

Children refine shapes, rolls, balances, hangs and landings with better control.

02

Planning & problem-solving

Multi-step stations ask children to remember, choose and adjust.

03

Positive risk-taking

Progressive challenges make bravery practical, safe and achievable.

04

Cooperative confidence

Partner tasks build communication without taking away individual success.

A purposeful rhythm

A normal class, step by step

Familiar structure helps children feel secure, while new weekly themes and skill progressions keep curiosity alive.

Designed for lasting participation

Why this format works so well

The older-child decks explain why gymnastics at The Little Gym is an unusually versatile foundation for an active childhood.

01

Easy to join — children only need comfortable clothing, not special equipment

02

A comfortable indoor, air-conditioned environment away from heat and PM2.5

03

A non-contact activity with carefully managed progressions

04

Non-competitive — progress is measured against each child’s own starting point

05

Never repetitive — more than 30 gymnastics skills, 20+ pieces of equipment and a new weekly focus

06

Exercise and games combine to make movement joyful and relieve stress

07

Challenges develop confidence, patience, discipline and the satisfaction of success

08

Gymnastics creates a transferable foundation for sports, dance and ballet

Age-right development

Milestones we support

Development is individual and rarely linear. These are common signs of growing confidence, not a checklist or promise.

Milestones we support

  • Balancing longer on one foot or a narrow surface
  • Combining run, jump and landing
  • Remembering a short movement sequence
  • Trying again after useful feedback
  • Cooperating with a partner

Skills children explore

  • Forward and sideways rolls
  • Beam walks, turns and balances
  • Bar supports and swings
  • Cartwheel preparation
  • Jump combinations and landing shapes

What parents may notice

  • More control when moving fast and stopping
  • Longer concentration on a sequence
  • More willingness to attempt a challenging station
  • Greater comfort asking a teacher for help

Questions parents often ask

How is this different from Funny Bugs?

Giggle Worms uses longer sequences, more refined gymnastics shapes and challenges that ask four- and five-year-olds to plan and adapt.

Will children be pushed to perform?

No. Coaches offer progressive choices and celebrate each child’s safe effort and personal progress.

What if my child has one very strong or weak skill?

Stations can be simplified or extended, so a child can work at an appropriate level within the same class.
