That is common. Tell the team before class so the teacher can welcome your child gradually. Familiar routines often help, and readiness can take more than one visit.
Children learn real gymnastics foundations, but the curriculum also deliberately includes listening, imagination, social practice and confidence-building.
Age is the starting point. The branch team can also consider confidence, group readiness and previous experience before recommending a class.
